Do you have an old toilet that isn’t performing like it should, or a kitchen faucet that has seen better days? 180 Plumbing and Heating can replace that old fixture, in a professional and timely manner, giving you the peace of mind you may not get from letting your brother in-law or husband swap it out for you.

Feel free to go out and buy the fixture you like and we will come and install it, OR we can help you choose and supply a great quality fixture that will last for years to come. Remember, not all products are created equal. The phrase, “you get what you pay for” is usually accurate, especially when dealing with plumbing fixtures.

Drain Water Heat Recovery (DWHR) is becoming more popular every year, especially since the Alberta Government added it to their Energy Rebate Program. What is DWHR? DWHR is a maintenance free device that recoups some of the heat, during a shower, you’ve already paid for by transferring it to the incoming cold water that goes into your hot water tank.

In order to qualify you must first find your plumbing stack in the basement. Typically, there is one located in the mechanical room, however sometimes they get covered up in a wall somewhere. Secondly, find out how many of your showers drain into that stack pipe. You must have at least one shower that drains into it to qualify for a rebate. If two of your showers drain into it, you will get a larger rebate. 180 Plumbing and Heating will install your DWHR unit, send in the paperwork, and you’ll get the rebate in the mail.

If your house was built between 1975-1998 there is a possibility you have Poly B waterlines. Why is Poly B a problem? Poly B is no longer an acceptable material for waterlines. Poly B is a grey plastic pipe that is known to degrade, crack and split causing severe leaks. Most of the houses we’ve seen with Poly B were built between 1985-1997. If you have Pex or Copper waterlines consider yourself lucky. If you find you arenot so lucky, we can help!

Whether you are doing an addition, redoing a bathroom, or building a new house, 180 Plumbing and Heating will help you with all of your plumbing needs. We are not afraid of challenges and look forward to doing the job right! If there is one thing you don’t want to skimp on in any project, it’s Plumbing!

Anyone from Calgary knows we have hard water. Hard water is tough on ALL your plumbing fixtures, some more than others. Toilets, faucets and valves have plastic or rubber parts that can break down faster with hard water. Hot water tanks and especially tankless water heaters are extremely susceptible to degradation from hard water if left unchecked. Calgary’s water hardness ranges from 9.9 -17.7 grains per gallon (gpg). Water is considered hard from 10.5-21 gpg. Anything above 21 gpg is considered very hard. 180 Plumbing and Heating can help recommend and install a water softener or descaling filter based on your needs. We can also help with iron, chlorine, fluoride and sediment for well systems.

Yes, plumbers fix furnaces. In Alberta, plumbers receive two tickets. The first is obviously a Plumbing ticket, but the second is a Type B Gasfitter ticket, which allows a qualified Plumber to work on any gas fired appliance under 399,000 BTU/hr. You guessed it, your furnace is in that category. So, if your furnace quits in the middle of winter or you want a pre-season service, 180 Plumbing and Heating can handle all your furnace maintenance needs.

It is important to have regular maintenance done to your boiler. Ensuring the burners and heat exchanger is in good working order is essential for safe and efficient operation. Overtime, products of combustion can build up, obstructing burner ports, the exchanger and venting. Something else to keep in mind is the quality of the water/glycol in your heating system. If left unchecked, the water may become acidic or turn to sludge which can lead to catastrophic circumstances for your entire heating system.
